5 Beauty Product Myths

Everyone’s an expert on skin care these days. In fact, you cannot scour the web without stumbling upon article after article after article dishing out advice on various skin care products and formulas. Let me share a secret with you-not everything you read about on the internet is true. Of course that can also mean that the above statement is false which then translates to the fact that this entire post is a sham. Either way, feel free to interpret it however you see fit. Below are some myths that I have investigated and found to be really wanting. In this post I will separate the beauty facts from the fiction to spare you all the time and hustle of doing it yourselves.
Myth number one to be debunked concerning beauty cosmetics is that cucumbers reduce eye puffiness. This statement is partially true and partially false at the same time. Allow me to explain. Cucumbers, on their own do not reduce puffiness. We are familiar with the simile as cool as a cucumber. This simile was brought about because cucumbers are able to remain cold for very long periods outside refrigerator conditions. In essence, it is actually the cold that actually reduces the puffiness not the cucumbers. Other cold substances such as ice packets or even a cold steak placed over the eye can have the same effect.
Myth number two that should be sent to the deepest pit of hell is that drinking lots of water actually leads to beautiful skin. While there are numerous benefits associated with water to the appearance of the skin, drinking too much of it will only result in bloating and excessive trips to the bathroom.
Myth number three is that aluminium antiperspirants can actually cause breast cancer. This is one cosmetic myth that is actually misconstrued to be true while it’s not. According to research conducted, there has been no proven link between breast cancer and aluminium antiperspirants. Of course now and again the topic of how aluminium salts in the antiperspirants mess with a woman’s breast cells via the armpit lymph nodes will surface. My advice to you – don’t sweat it- literally.
Myth number four on my list is there’s no need to use sunscreen on a cloudy day. The sun produces harmful UVB rays that harm the surface of the skin. Irrespective of whether the day is sunny or cloudy, the sun is still there and so does are its radiations. Following that logic, the radiations can penetrate the clouds and still damage your skin irrespective of whether you can see the sun or not.
Myth five and the last cosmetic fiction is that shaving actually makes hair grow thicker. Over the years I have encountered numerous folks who actually believe this. However, it is time to let the cat out of the bag and denounce this false truth. Here’s what really happens. When one shaves, they’re actually cutting hair strands off at their largest diameter so that what is left is usually the blunt end which is thicker and coarser than what they’re used to.

Hair Extensions

You may have considered getting hair extensions at one point. They are a quick and easy way to add length and a new look to your hair. But you may have no idea where to go to get something like this done. There may be hair extensions salons with good reputations, but some of them might be far away. Also, it is hard to know if the hair salon on the street corner offers hair extensions or whether they do a good job.
There are several ways to investigate the hair extension business to find a placenear you that you will be happy with. One of the main ways to do this is to carefully consider all of the online resources. Of course you can look at general beauty salon sites, such as The Hair Boutique. Sites like this offer general information and reviews of various salons and indicate what services they offer, including whether they offer hair extensions.

You can also get more specific in your internet searching. Say you lived in Detroit and were wanting to find a Hair Extension salon in your neighborhood, You would enter “Detroit Hair Extension Salons” or something similar into a search engine, and you would get a number of different hits of different local information as well as more national directories. There are a few that stand out that you might want to consider:
1. Hair Boutique is an informative site that has many different links to salon sites. You would pretty much need to have the site in mind that you were looking for at this site, because the sites are listed alphabetically and not by area, but once you find a site you can find lots of information about it along with being able to contact it through the site.
2. The Salon Locator is a site that has lists of salons by area, particularly by state. There are also various informational resources on the site such as hair loss information and care and upkeep of extensions. You can order supplies and get training resources.
3. HairBonz. This is a site for the particular brand of the HairBonz system of extensions.
There are also sites listing information about for particular needs. Black Beauty Care Directory is a site specifically for African American concerns with using hair extensions, and categorized by the salons in each state that offer salons that have experience servicing African American Hair needs. If all else fails you can enter more and more specific information in the search engine until you find what you might be looking for in a particular Salon, or to check out the one you might be thinking about near you you can always enter its name.

Salon Staff Uniforms

One thing that is often not obvious to an owner or operator of a health or beauty salon is where to go to get uniforms for your staff. Every salon will want uniforms that are comfortable, convenient, and nice looking for employees, so it is an important decision. Luckily there is information about where to make your choice beforehand.
These days, we are all lucky enough to have the internet as a resource before we make important decisions or purchases. And where to go to get great beauty service uniforms can be something that you can get a lot of information about online. Simply using the relevant search terms, such as “health and beauty ware” or “health and beauty service uniforms” will turn up a number of useful and relevant results. In addition, you have the option of going through general health and beauty service retailers such as beautyserve.net or healthypages.net.
There will be a number of individual sites that turn up in your searching, and you will have the option of using a company that offers a number of photos and that posts all of the relevant information about each choice. You may want to consider, however, a few additional issues when you are making your decisions.
There are several features that you will want your beauty service uniforms to have. One of them is of course, the right look. You will want to make sure that they blend in with the look that you are going for in your spa or salon.
Additional concerns will be the wear ability for your staff. They will be spending a lot of time in these uniforms much of it on the move and on their feet, so they will want to be comfortable.
The type of material will be important both for look and for comfort. Nylon is strong, resilient and resistant to damage, but is subject to piling. And some people don’t always like how it looks. Cotton, on the other hand, is usually comfortable, but often doesn’t wear well. And at the end of a long day in a salon, it can accumulate moisture and might get heavy. A good compromise is to get a cotton-poly blend.
If you feel that you are not able to adequately make the decision about your uniforms online or by photos, a good way to go about it is to look at samples at a heath/beauty trade show. You will be able to see firsthand how the uniforms look and feel.
In addition, you will probably have access to the supplier. This will be a good chance for you to ask all types of questions that you might have about the uniforms, and get a close look at the particulars including the trim details. Information about beauty trade shows, and when and where they might be hosted in your area, is also something you can research online.
When you do find a company that you are interested in ordering from and have seen uniforms that you are interested in purchasing for your staff, you can make your secure and convenient purchase right at the same. Make sure that you choose a site that has a telephone number listed, and that specifies their ordering and return policies. Ask if they have special pricing if you order in bulk, so that you can outfit all of your staff at the same time.
